From the Pastor’s Study….

Mark chapter 12 concludes with a touching story: “41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Her gift was not one of “quantity,” but of “quality.”  It was a sacrificial gift of devotion to God.  It was also a gift of faith, as she put in “all she had to live on.”  She trusted God to take care of her.  Her small gift would have gone unnoticed, had not Jesus pointed it out to his disciples.  What a wonderful act, and a great lesson for us as well.  What is the condition of our heart when we give to God?

  • Men, make sure you let Alice know today if you are coming to the Men’s breakfast this coming Saturday at 7:00 AM.  Lord willing we will have two student athletes with us who will share their salvation stories and how F.C.A. made a difference in their lives.
