From the Pastor’s Study….

I’m not sure what I expected.  It’s been 15 years since I touched a bowling ball.  I helped a family move and carried a bowling ball out to their rental truck, but that hardly qualifies.  Nevertheless I accompanied Pastor Crale and the Jr High youth to the lanes in York.

I read that you should set goals, so my goal was to bowl roughly the same score I had 15 years ago minus a 10% reduction.  My expectations were inflated, but it sounded doable.  After a few frames my adjusted goal was to break 100.  By the 7th frame, my newest goal was to bowl my age.  Nope!  Then it became all about not having the worst score.  My expectations were over-inflated.

Why am I telling you this?  It’s about expectations.  I had expectations of how well I would do, but my expectations didn’t fit reality.  As I reread the crucifixion account, it was clear the disciples had seen Jesus die on a Roman cross. They had seen the body as it was placed in a borrowed tomb. When the women left for the tomb on resurrection morning, they had their own expectations.  But their expectations didn’t not fit the reality of what they saw.

Join us this Resurrection Sunday as we look at that very issue – our expectations.  “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?  He is not here, but He has risen.”  Luke 24:5b & 6a

In Him,

Pastor Bob
